According to Red Hat, a certified system administrator (RHCSA) should be able to perform the below task without any issue.

1.Understand and use essential tools for handling files, directories, command-line environments, and documentation.

2.Operate running systems, including booting into different run levels, identifying processes, starting and stopping virtual machines, and controlling services.

3. Configure local storage using partitions and logical volumes.

4. Create and configure file systems and file system attributes, such as permissions, encryption, access control lists, and network file systems.

5. Deploy, configure, and maintain systems, including software installation, update, and core services.

6. Manage users and groups, including use of a centralized directory for authentication.

7. Manage security, including basic firewall and SELinux configuration.

Red Hat® Certified Engineer (RHCE) RHEL 7

If you want to be RHCE, you must fulfill all the objectives of RHCSA, which are above and should also know the below topics.

1. Configuring static routes, packet filtering, and network address translation.

2. Setting kernel runtime parameters.

3. Configuring an Internet Small Computer System Interface (iSCSI) initiator.

4. Producing and delivering reports on system utilization.

5. Using shell scripting to automate system maintenance tasks.

6. Configuring system logging, including remote logging.

7. Configuring a system to provide networking services, including HTTP/HTTPS, File Transfer

Protocol (FTP), network file system (NFS), server message block (SMB), Simple Mail Transfer

Protocol (SMTP), secure shell (SSH) and Network Time Protocol (NTP).
